A heads up from Ian Jackson, who sent in this note a few days ago:
Just a quick note, to tell you about a new Halo/Tribes article which I recieved recently. Incidently, Total Halo has been revamped and looks a lot better.
Sorry about the delay there. For some reason, Total Halo refused to load for me, though it seems to be working fine now (and much improved).
No big events predicted, no stunning revelations to digest. Looks like some of us might actually get some work done this weekend, no?
Nevetheless, keep your eyes peeled. Bungie has a way of catching us completely off guard... and as always, news and rumors are welcomed and appreciated. Do your part to abolish website starvation today!
The mighty think tank that is Marathon's Story has been hard at work putting names and places to assorted quotes from the old Halo site. As a result of their success, we've even more loose ends to be tied up now. Definitely something to do for you riddle junkies out there.
Hamish has just now posted a letter from Nathan congratulating Marathon's Story reader Matthew Lewis Carroll Smith for uncovering the obscure origins of the pseudonym. The correct theory is posted for all to see, as are Nathan's words of explanation. An excellent piece of detective work!
Of course, this now leaves us with little or nothing to do for the next little while... hmm...
A whimsical topic this time around. While Jonesworld is the accepted name for the gas giant in the Halo system, the moon on the other side of the Halo goes by several names. Thus, which of the most popular names do you think is most apt?
Can't be serious all the time, can we? Cast your vote and help christen a planet.
Some correspondance over the past day has raised questions about the accuracy of reported hints at Marathon's Story concerning the meaning of Island Four. Sources have suggested that the hints, while still there, are earlier in the month than previously thought. Our net remains the same, but the school of fish has suddenly gotten much larger.
We will figure it out eventually... if the Marathon and fledgling Halo communities can do one thing other than crush web polls, it's figure out riddles like these.
A few changes in the polling procedure last week, but a good result nonetheless. While the final result was clear early on, I must admit I didn't expect it. When asked which readers would prefer, a first or third person perspective in Halo, the majority among the 282 votes was clear:
The poll has been doing very well since its relocation, and is nearing an all time high number of results. Many thanks to those who have voted, and to the rest of you, chop chop.
As of this posting, and likely until the end, third person remains the favored camera position among voters. This despite very vocal first person view advocates. I'll be closing it tomorrow night and opening a new poll, so this is your last chance to cast your ballot!
Intrigued by the Island Four riddle, an anonymous reader forwarded a piece of correspondance between him and Nathan, perhaps offering us a hint or two:
