"The Matt Report: Closets, Engines, and AI, Oh My"
Bungie's own Matt Soell has seen fit to lay a veritable treasure trove of pertinent, not-so-pertinent details about Halo's progress and Bungie's continuing subversion of the Microsoft machine at the site of our esteemed colleagues in crime, Halo.bungie.org.
The Halo engine is completing a major engine rewrite, Soell reports, with the major benefit going to indoor areas, which will now feature much more prominently in the game. The AI is now entering the planning stages. And a new rasterizer is being worked on to leverage all the X-Box's anticipated eye candy. On the downside, closet space seems to be at a premium.
However, the most important detail is the Bungie community's apparently missing Charles Gough's birthday:
By the way, weТre all very disappointed that none of you took the time to post a Happy Birthday Chucky message even though we made it a news item on www.bungie.net. ChuckyТs doing well, considering Ц right now weТre much more concerned about JasonТs habit of dumping his lunch on himself Ц but we were hoping for a little support from you guys.
First let's take this opportunity for everyone here at R.Net to wish Chucky a Happy Birthday-- HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Also, we've put in an order for emergency bibs for Jason in case that nasty habit doesn't clear up. Wouldn't want something spilled on anything sensitive.
Thanks to RHL regular ax who pointed this out to our news staff.
