A rather interesting observation from Bravehamster on our forum tonight, regarding the still outlawed IncitePC Halo preview:
After watching the Incite movie for the umpteenth time (defined as 7 x 70) I noticed that when Doug Zartman is speaking about the Halo he says the following:One of the things about Halo is that it takes place in this entire....sorry, this huge, completely seamless world.
When he says entire the guy next to Doug (anyone got an ID?) shifts uncomfortably and that's when Doug says sorry . Sounds to me like Doug wanted to say this entire ring but that either they haven't decided whether or not the whole ring is explorable, or they've decided that the whole ring is NOT explorable.
It seems nothing is safe from scrutiny these days. So, are we reading too deeply into a casual slip of the tongue, or is this a clue to the planned scope of the world? And if you're one of those who have yet to see this movie (available on the January 2000 issue CD of IncitePC), we're still waiting on a reply from Bungie on the legality of posting that film. Stay tuned.
Just to show that we aren't completely useless. In a forum post, Bungie's Matt Soell clears up (and dispels) a bit of speculation around the recent discovery of hydra.bungie.com:
: Or maybe it has something to do with hydra (actually, I doubt
: that...I think hydra is one of the unannounced projects ;)Nope. Hydra's just a server name. A many-headed beast. No big deal.
#2 inches closer and closer...
But we all knew that already, right? Speculation as to the true nature of Wishes continues to run rampant...
You know it's bad when the news updater cookie has expired. Sorry about the two days off... work, Myth, and a new computer have all conspired to keep me busy. That and there's been an almost painful shortage of news to report.
Rest assured that it's only temporary, though. We haven't abandoned this ship yet, and should be back to our rampant rumor mongering and front page fluffing soon. And as always, if you've got news, then lemme have it.
If you were in doubt, set your mind at ease. Kudos to Bachus, who pointed out that Bungie is now listed on the MWSF exhibitor list, booth number 4327.
4327? 4 * 3 + 2 - 7 = ...
Not surprisingly, this week's poll comes straight from the controversy of the past few days. The movie in question is a hypothetical one, not necessarily the Incite movie, but the question remains valid: even against the wishes of the movie's publisher, would you upload and/or download a new Halo movie?
Simply an information poll, but it might be of interest to movie distributors in the future. Cast those votes, and we'll wrap it up this time next week.
A remarkably close poll this week! Asked whether or not complex hand to hand combat should play a major role in Halo, voters were almost evenly split between the two choices:
| Absolutely: | 48% | |
| Unnecessary: | 51% |
Also interesting was how steady this poll was. From about Wednesday on, the results seemed to have settled, and while the number of voters doubled since then to almost 250, the results remained even.
Only problem with a poll like this is that I can't draw many conclusions from it... it seems like the idea is as popular as unpopular. New poll will be up shortly, but in the meantime...
Bravehamster has posted a link to a set of sixteen screenshots taken from the IncitePC movie, a page that is likely doomed to a short lifespan. MacDrugal says it best: Get 'em while they're hot!
The quality of this movie is evident from these shots, which primarily feature vehicles and weapons. In particular, this shot shows off the scope of the Halo world... the wait is becoming intolerable.
