We reported on October 19 that EBGames had dropped its price of $44.99 to $29.99 for Myth III. However, Zinfandel has noted in the futuremyth forum that EBGames has now re-priced Myth III once again, but now it is $44.99 again.

EBGames is offering a bonus CD and board game to those who order from them. The following information has been added to Myth III's description page:

The Myth III board game features 16 units direct from the game Ц each with individual stats and special abilities! Two tiling play boards can be arranged in four different configurations. Combine more than one board game to create massive maps for dozens of armies!

You also get an exclusive multiplayer level on CD! March your armies across the lush grasslands of Pepper Heights. Have some tea and take in the sights. Or, you can just beat your enemies into bloody pulp.

EBGames only sells the PC version of Myth III, so Mac users are still out of luck.

We are unsure whether or not those who took advantage of the offer while Myth III was priced at $29.99 will still pay that price or if they will be expected to pay the additional $15.

Myth Village has reported that GameSpy has put up an article entitled Inside The Myth III Soundtrack. Zak Belica, composer and sound designer for Myth III, is interviewed in the feature. Belica discusses his background in music and what he aimed for with the soundtrack:

Since the game takes place 1000 years or so before the first Myth game, we wanted to make the music a tad more primitive and tribal. To achieve this, we went for a more spare sound, with a few more basic instruments per track instead of giant orchestras. The percussion used is also primitive; I used shield hits, metal strikes and leather/skin drums to give the parts a home-brewed feel. Scott Campbell and I went through the game and created an outline of the kinds of music needed for each section of the game. We came up with headings such as Journey, for when the player is traveling, Mourning for sad events, and Hero for when Connacht is in charge, etc. These headings are reflected in the piece names and in the music itself.

Each track's significance and philosophy is discussed briefly and it is clear that the soundtrack will definitely benefit Myth III's atmosphere.

In addition to this, the entire soundtrack is available to download for free. It's a 64.4 MB compressed ZIP file containing MP3s. I am downloading it right now and you should, too!

It will require some work on your part, but it's actually very cool.

Apple's Mac OS X operating system gives its users the ability to create their own slideshow screen savers without much effort at all. If you would like to create a Myth III screen saver, follow these steps:

1. Go to Myth Village's Myth III image gallery
2. Download all of the images you would like to include in the screen saver
3. Move the downloaded images to the Pictures folder in your personal folder (~/Pictures)
4. Open your System Preferences and click Screen Saver
5. Select Slide Show and then make any other configurations you'd like (most importantly, activation time)

From now on, whenever your screen saver activates, a slide show of the images will be displayed in full screen glory.

I'm sure this is possible with other operating systems, but I don't have any I can test out at the moment.

Of course, you can use any images you'd like for the screen saver. You could use Halo screenshots or even mix them with Myth III's. It's all up to you.

The Mill has announced the five winners of the Myth 2: Worlds giveaway that ran until the 19th.

Kudos to Jimmy McSpoon for pointing out in the Myth Village forum another store that is offering Mac Myth III pre-orders. Mac-O-Rama has Myth III listed for $46 and an estimated time of arrival of November 2001. A hefty price, but if you are desparate, then perhaps this is a welcomed option.

The Marius.net website got the scoop on two new Myth TFL maps that have been made available at Grounds For Assault. Conner describes the new maps:

The Ring [of Seventeen] has a Stonehenge feel to, featuring some interesting unit mixes as well as great scenery. And Autumn's Tidings is reminiscient of Torpidinium with a quarry in the middle.

Sounds good, so get downloading.

As spotted by Subnova, the fantastic Creation map-making group is expecting to disband soon, as indicated by clem in a post in evihcra's forum. A distinct reason is not mentioned, but at least we will be able to enjoy one final release from the group with Sister's of the Blade. More details, such as what will happen to their Hotline server, are explained in the post.

The community has lost one of its greatest strengths, but it wasn't without an incredible run. Creation's latest release, The Seventh God, is still one of the most fantastic projects to grace the Myth engine. We would like to thank Creation for all of their work so we could play.

Previously priced at $44.99, Myth III's pre-order price at EBGames.com has dropped to $29.99. That's an incredible price and I would pre-order it from them myself if it appeared as though they offered the Mac version, too. In any case, this seems to be the best deal for PC users.
