Blambi of the Cartographers of Myth sent this update:
In case you were wondering why we haven't made any noises for a while aside from Sosua Beach's release yesterday... we've got 4 new screenshots of Myth: The Great War at com.gamerats.com/tgw/. And now, instead of you looking at them and that being the end of it, you can talk about Myth: TGW or anything else myth-like in our new forums at http://com.gamerats.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi. The goodness doesn't stop there though, because we are now offering free cutomizable forum hosting. Just to make you happy, we've also put Sobo's Dwarven Island Scenery Pack on the CoM site for you to download (finally!) and use on your maps. And in case you missed it, the site went through a few small changes due to popular demand. Enjoy!
As you can see, the CoM have kept themselves quite busy despite what would seem like a period of vacation. Rest assured, they are hard at work to deliver what looks to be one of the more promising Myth II campaigns yet.
Myth TFL still has not returned and there is no sign of it coming back soon. The BattleWatch service is still going strong, always having a game online to join. And if Myth II's bungie.net goes down, it supports both games.
Andrew Meggs sent a status update to MWA, stating what they have been working on and accomplishing as of the past week:
Development has kicked up a notch as we move into the home stretch. We've tripled the speed of the game engine. We canned the placeholder water and put in some stuff we're not embarrassed to show. We've gone crazy on the script engine to add all sorts of new map actions that are already paying off in terms of greatly increased level interactivity in the hands of iggy and fisj and phook. We added custom skin colors for netplay, and started to test out netplay itself. And that's just in the last week.
It's comforting to see that the team has remained on schedule and this further supports that a new Myth being available by the end of the year is very possible.
Strangelet left a message in our forum letting us know that the Alien - Dark Tide total conversion for Myth II has finally been completed. The project is a result of self-determination of this TMBM member and looks very promising. You can visit the official site to get some more information, or just head over to The Mill and download it.
For the first time in a while, we are finally getting some new information about Myth III from the folks at Inside Mac Games. They sent Michael Yanovich to Mumbo Jumbo's headquarters in Irvine, CA to scoop some information on Myth III and he did so quite successfully. Along with tons of awesome information, he brought along some awesome screenshots, which give the first look at the Trow Iron Warrior. You're simply a fool if you pass on reading this one.
One of my favorite all-around game sites, GameSpot, has put together a top ten list of the best looking PC games of all time. Innovative titles such as Doom, 7th Guest and Homeworld are on the list and of course, Myth: The Fallen Lords has its place, too. GameSpot is right, gore never looked so good on a battlefield.
