The part of Halo 3 that will be most important to me will definitely have to be campain. multiplayer will also be fun because of new maps, but im a HUGE halo fan and i am definitely going to replay the campain mode thousands of times.

The thing is, I know all the hardcore fans are thinking: let's hope they do campaign great this time, so it's totally going to be re-playable. The thing is, I'd rather have a challenging, story-filled campaign, but an utterly incredible multiplayer. Bungie made the extraordinarly smart decision to do this for Halo 2, they were forced to finish off the campaign with a huge cliffhanger and leave some elements of it un-polished. But the multiplayer was a roaring success. If Halo 3 can have that same multiplayer magic it will be amazing no matter what (I mean, not a bad campaign...but I think Bungie should focus on multiplayer)

The thing is, I will play campaign first, and probably all the way through before I play multiplayer, but 6 months after release I will have played way more multiplayer than campaign.

It's a tough call. I am more excited to see how the story ends, but overall I will spend more time playing multiplayer.

In reply to: Multiplayer

Yep I'd say multiplayer. The thing is, you play campaign a few times through, you play on Legendary, you play around a bit on them, and then that's basically it. With multiplayer, you can ALWAYS play over and over and over again. Look at Halo 2 - Millions are still playing multiplayer, simply b/c it was so great. You spend way more time with the Multiplayer than Campaign, so I'd have to go with it. But yeah, I don't want a terrible campaign mode of course, but at least an above average, very good campaigan, and a great multiplayer.

I was a bit disappointed with the Halo 2 campaign. I like the first half of the game best, but the tail end was a let down. In fact I would prefer to play Halo 1 if I had to choose a campaign. I agree that about 90% of my time now is spent in the multiplayer mode, but I don't think that is what will define the game. If Halo 3 will be the final chapter, they need to go out with a bang. Even if the multiplayer mode on Halo 3 is terrible (which I doubt - especially in HD), you can always fall back on the H2 multiplayer. I could continue to play that for years. Don't forget, there is always the option for another later release map pack!!!

I completely agree, I think campaign is what defines the game. I hope they do a lot of great stuff with the campaign. I'm hoping you can use your fist tho, nothing like taking your anger out on an unsuspecting grunt. I'm sure H3 will have an ubelieveable multiplayer, halo always does.

In reply to: Multiplayer

Its a tough call. But i would have to say Multiplayer. Because if you look at it you can keep playing it over and over again with different people. And in campaign you are following the same story line over and over.

However, i am sure the campaign will be a good one.

Halo is like the most fun game ever, even though I own a ps2 and a psp i think it is awesome. And the trailer at E3 just blew me away even though it was only 2min. and 17sec. long.

Imagine if you were able to choose how many people could play on xbox live and you could play missions on Xbox live with at least 50 other spartans/Elites!!!!!!! THAT WOULD BE AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous's picture

In reply to: Don't U think it would be cool if they had this?

It would be awesome. but I suspect you are not old enugh to play this game as if you were you would know that is near impossible. Definetly missions would be impossible as AI would be hell to have for 50 people. Multiplayer is physically possible though

Anonymous's picture

I think that the campaign would be sweet if you could play with 3 of your friends. So that you could to 4 player coop. Bungie should at least allow for 4 player system link coop.

In reply to: Re: What part of Halo 3 will be most important to you?

The thing that puts Halo over top and sets it apart from other FPS is the story, and the feel you get when your playing it. When your hands are on the controls you feel like that's you in that suite. Not many games put you in that role.
With that said, the campaign is the most important element of the game to me because it sucks into the game like no other has before it. Games like Halo, and the up coming Gears of War, shouldn't be called games at all. Games to me are Madden, Sonic the Hedgehog, and things like, with no story and little to pull you in. Halo, and Gears of War are more like "interactive movies". You get to take the role of the protagonist, trying to play out the story the best you can. I would rather do that than watch some movie that makes you sit and not think for two hours. D

It's totally dependent on how the game turns out, for me. I grabbed H1 totally to play with friends but the campaign ended up drawing me in. Going into the second I thought the campaign would be most important to me because of the first's, but the MP ended up totally sucking me in. It'll just depend on what part of the game is the most fun for me. Maybe it'll be the UI this time. I can say, however, that having seen the potential fun that MP can bring, I'm probably more concerned about the MP this go-around.

Oh yeah... I have played the halo 2 UI for hours! I like to camp the button settings menu.

I voted single player. To me, multiplayer is already blessed by the masses that play it. Most people derive a enough satisfaction from the quenching of their competitive urges that the sheer number of people to play and beat (enough people and statistically Im not the worst) will make multiplayer a great experience, even if the game is average.

Anonymous's picture

I play all video games for their campaign/single player modes. The multiplayer/xbox live version, especially in Halo, is amazing, but it is only a bonus. I am looking forward to finishing the greatest saga, next to star wars and lord of the rings, that started with Halo:The Fall of Reach.

Question: What does Rare and Bungie have in common?

Answer:Good people leaving good companies equals sub par games.

If they pack in Halo 1 with x box live support and Halo 2 with a map editor then Halo 3 mp will be the best.

Anonymous's picture

I think that Halo2 has a pretty good multiplayer so I think that they should just concentrate on the campaign

Anonymous's picture

In reply to: Both Multi-Campaign

Well i think that both online and offline should be important....first the offline in H2 was good i liked it....but the online the play is good but they need to get rid of the cheaters if they could get rid of cheating that would boost online play alot

Anonymous's picture

I usual am pretty quick at getting through the campaigns on Halo (on legendary) and i realy want to see wha t happens next with the story, but once that is over the multiplayer will kick ass! Thus laster for a much longer period of time.......4 years!

WOOO

Anonymous's picture

In reply to: Campaign or multiplayer??????

I agree with you campaign is good but multiplayer will last much longer and with xboxlive halo 2 is the best game i ever played so if halo 3 multiplayer is better that will be sweet.

Anonymous's picture

I am really excited to see how the story ends. I am finishing the books and then I hope Halo 3 Sums it up for me. But back to the question. I like campaign but I play more multiplayer. But my biggest concern is xbox live and the cheating. I enjoy playing the game online but there has to be a way to get rid of all the cheating, it makes the game miserable for the people who like to play strait up.

Anonymous's picture

Don't get me wrong, I will surely love the campaign, and it will probably be the first thing I play, but I'm gonna be honest, the multiplayer is way more important to me. The main reason for that being that I will probably only put a few hours into the campaign, enough to beat it once or twice, maybe more as years go by, but I'm going to put hundreds of hours into the Multiplayer. Playing countless games and wasting countless hours over live and LAN and (oh God, I hope) online Co-Op. Because I will spend infinitely more time comparitively on multiplayer than campaign, I think it's way more important that the Multiplayer is nailed down tight than campaign. But don't get me wrong, I need the campaign and ending of this epic storyline to be great as well. I'm just picking the one that's more important to ME.

Anonymous's picture

In reply to: I said Multiplayer...

it would be so amazing if there was co-op campaign. but you could have four people over 'live' and play campaign. now that would ba amazing. with more and harder enimies. it would be so fun.

Devin's picture

yeah they should get the campaign as perfect as they can and then base the MP gameplay on it, like they did with Halo 1 and Halo PC

Anonymous's picture

it better to have somebody playing with you aginst a horad of enmys

First off, Bungie has stated publicly several times that they tend to work on multiplayer first, then the campaign. They did so with Halo 2, demoing multiplayer much earlier than campaign.

With perhaps as much as seventeen months left before shipping Halo 3, it seems to me unlikely that the campaign is finished.

Secondly, Bungie tends to not release demos until after the game ships, and with the past success of the Halo franchise it seems unlikely that it would need a demo. Halo 2 never had a demo, and Halo 1 only had a demo for the PC version.

Although unlikely, i would love to see them implment the Pelican into multiplayer. make the maps a bit bigger and open p the amount of players that can play. The pelican would make a great transport ship.
The Scarab another REALLLY unlikely one, if he maps were big enought and the scarbs wer destroyable, as in had a health bar ect... puting one in would make a big bang!

Anonymous's picture

of course campaign won nobody is going to give up the storyline just for multiplayer but its still good to blow your buddies to peices

campaign-beaten halo and halo 2 already, too easy

Don't have 2 controllers or Xbox live, so campaign is my only shot. Don't plan on getting an Xbox 360 though, so oh well.

Anonymous's picture

they've already got a kick-ass multiplayer; halo 2's campaign just didn't have any replay value or conclusive ending. i'd like to get a totally sweet campaign before the multiplayer, this time.
