  2. Meggs Says You'll Get Your Blood

Mon, 05/21/2001 - 10:51 by acrappa

Some of you have noticed the lack of blood staining the mesh in the E3 trailer and have voiced concern in the forums. Fear not! Meggs has reassured that we'll get our gore.

The development timeline went something like this:

1) Video footage is finalized and sent off to GoD marketing to be processed for the jumbotron etc.
2) Healthy red blood that stains the mesh is added.
3) The tagset for the demo is finalized.
4) Multicolored blood is added so that, say, the thrall can bleed a nasty brown goo instead of looking so wholesome. Proper dying animations are added.
5) We go to E3.

So.... in the movie you see no blood on the mesh and units always gib when killed. In the version running at E3, you would have seen red blood on the mesh like Myth 2. In the version on my PC right now, you see multicolored blood that trickles down hills and pools in ditches, and units that have up to six different ways to die depending on the force and direction of the final blow. It's all about the carnage, baby!

Will we get our films? ;-)
