To pass through the Vex's Black Gate and into the Black Garden, we need the Gate Lord's eye to work. Ghost says the Cabal are guarding a Vex Spire that can help us do that.

Two levels ago we were manhandling moons. Then we had a pool party. Now we're in the sewers doing platform puzzles. Things are not going well.

Blackstar and Narcogen go to the Reef to visit the Queen and her very odd brother, then go back to Venus to try and find a Vex brain to dissect. On the way, they get distracted by a Public Event, and then ambushed by respawning waves of Vex while Ghost tries to hack a computer, before finally contemplating the word salad that is Destiny's level naming convention.

Narcogen and Blackstar (especially Narcogen) encounter significant difficulties in facing the new enemies on Venus: the time-traveling robot Vex. As a reward, they get to see the game's first (and perhaps best and possibly only) real cutscene.
