  2. Tribute for Orchestra

Thu, 04/24/2008 - 17:25 by Andybeano

Hey everyone, this is a transcription of 'Tribute' (heard at the end of the game when they are all standing on the mountain).
It's only half complete, but it is a work in progress so I will upload again when I've done some more (or contact me me if you've done a considerable amount more to it). There is a .bmp for each page, a midi file, a .sib file, and an mp3 (which is what you get in Sibelius when you export as audio- I read the 'How to upload' thing and said about not including .mp3s, but considering this is what you get when you play the midi file, I think I'll be let off on this one-if not mods tell me and it will go). If you get the actual piece (search on youtube), and start them both at EXACTLY the same time, the transcription should match up pretty much perfectly all the way through the actual piece (all of what I've done so far anyway). Enjoy and comment!

btw if anyone wants to make a pdf out of the images then send it to me they're welcome to and I'll add it to the zip.

It sounds really good, but the percussion is somewhat messed up. Other than that its great.

If you're talking about the midi file, I sorry for the way it came out. Really, the midi is for people to try get sheet music from if they don't have sibelius (which I assume most don't considering the number of .mus files on this forum). If you're talking about the mp3, umm... sounds ok to me! lol
Thanks for the comment!

Very good. Two things to note. First, the percussion is a tad off in the transcription. I doubt that you can accuratly transcribe this, but there are multiple sections where a "flam" is played; that is when the snare is struck, then quickly struck again, if you didn't know.

Also, at the end of the current transcription, where the single note plays through the rest, try and quiet down the other instruments. Volume is somewhat key in this piece to translate the "message," you know?

Hey, thanks for the comment.
When I listened to 'Tribute' again, I think I heard the flam (great word). It almost adds an echoey sound to it right? As for the volume, I will try to lower it on the other instruments but when it comes to accurate expression with Sibelius, it is not so good. The crescendos I put in don't work very well.

I've quickly added an .mp3 with the flam I think you were talking about to my Skydrive (below) (Rampancy was taking forever to upload so I gave up and uploaded it there instead). I haven't changed the volume for now. Btw the snare drum part looks really complicated now because of the way I added the extra notes. lol
Tell me what you think.

I've been working on a piano transcription for this song. I don't know if anyone else has, as I've looked all over the internet but am yet to cross any sheet music for this song period for any instrument (other than on this site). If anyone wants it let me know. I've gotten up to the ending where the song kind of rises, but i'm a little confused there on how to get this transposed onto the piano. There are obviously some mistakes, and could use a lot of improvement. Let me know if you want the file (I have it for Finale NotePad 2008, but i could make it a pdf also).

If you'd like you can post both and let people make comments/corrections as you like. Or you can email them to me and I'll post them for you.
