After much discussion on the forum about cultures and races in Halo, Bungie's Nathan Bitner has stepped in to clear up a bit of confusion:

Noctavis at Myther.com has posted an interesting item from one of his readers: The Total Codex. Myth fans might want to go take a look... and as for the rest of you, could this tie into the long promised three big things?
Bungie SETI Team
Apparently, crushing numerical superiority has struck a nerve. As posted at halo.bungie.org, Bungie has set up an enlistment page for their SETI team, which recently fell behind the Halo SETI team.
Competition makes everything a bit more interesting, no? If you're into SETI, pick a side and start crunching results for a cause!
Orbital Arm, Revisited
As posted at Marathon's Story, the site in the prior announcement is not yet ready for public consumption. The link has been removed, as has the one on Marathon's Story, but keep an eye out for it in days and months to come.
Orbital Arm
Blatantly ripped off of Marathon's Story is word of a new Marathon site aimed at Windows users, Orbital Arm. As Halo attracts more PC users to Bungie's flock, some may want to learn more about Marathon, which Halo appears to have very strong ties to.
HTML Tinkerlust
Nothing like a bit of HTML to ease that 33.6 download boredom. Regulars will notice the remodelling fairly quickly. Newcomers probably won't care. Nevertheless, if you hate it, be sure to say so, and I'll decide whether or not to leave it like this after a brief trial run.
"Cortana Sighting, Revisited"
Reliable sources have confirmed that some fun loving Admin was merely playing mind games with us (the usual suspects have denied everything), and that the posting mentioned below is indeed a fraud. No great loss, since it offered no new information... should probably try to be a wee bit more skeptical, no?
Another Cortana Sighting
So much for a quiet evening. Set upon by Bullseye the instant I logged onto BadlandsHL, I was advised that something worth seeing was on the b.net Admin HL server, that impenetrable fortress of solitude where much of our foul plotting takes place.
Well, not so impenetrable it seems, for this was waiting in the news:

Ultimate Gamer Preview
Kudos to geert, who sends word of a new Halo preview at Ultimate Gamer. The screenshots will be familiar, but there is some interesting new information towards the end, especially concerning the environment. Definitely one to take a look at.
