The February issue of Computer Gaming World posted The 10 Most Anticipated Games of 2001 in its Read.Me section. I'll quote the appropriate portions of the list:
The 10 Most Anticipated Games of 2001
- Halo
As if the Gaming media's collective mania over this title wasn't evidence enough, Microsoft bought Bungie outright to use HALO as their showcase Xbox title. Hate Microsoft all you want, but their interest in this title is enough to convince even the worst skeptic of this game's powerful potential.- Black & White
- Return to Castle Wolfenstein
- Oni
It may only be single-player now, but we're still optimistic. Oni is gorgeous: The animation and combat look fantastic, and the anime style is an honest artistic choice and not a cynical attempt to milk a fad. And who's to say that they won't patch in multiplayer later...?- Dinosaur
- Freelancer
- Tribes 2
- Neverwinter Nights
- WarCraft III
- Anachronox
What can we say, but that Bungie still rules? The Oni MP-patch idea may not be as realistic, since Oni now belongs to someone else, but it's nice to think about. It'll be interesting to compare notes a year from now to see how people feel then.
While we're on the subject of CGW, I should bring up their newest poll. They're asking us to chose our favorite 20 games in the last 20 years. Sounds interesting... If you're still a hot & heavy Myther, then it might behoove you to get out and vote for your favorite game.
