HBO and Mythica are hosting, via BitTorrent and Two Degrees, a new version of a great behind-the-scenes vid released during E3 in 2002 but just recently put out in high resolution on CD by PC Gamer in the UK.
It's got commentary from Marty O'Donnell, Shikai Wang, Rob McLees and Paul Russell. HBO has a list of mirrors. We don't have a version to host over here yet, but we hope we will soon.
UPDATE: We are now offering a mirror of the QuickTime version of Evolution of Halo.
Please bear in mind, Rampancy has been recently forced to limit the speed and number of connections for movie files; if the server is currently over its limit, you may see a broken QuickTime icon, a blank page, or R.net's main page.
Blackstar of Blackstar Productions, that yesterday released a video of the Offensive Tetraboxing LANfest held by HBO's Louis Wu, mentioned in the HBO forum that a second part of the video will also be available soon.
[image:6820 left hspace=5 vspace=5 border=0]Over at Blackstar Productions, Blackstar's highlight film for the Offensive Tetraboxing LANfest held on January 31 and February 1 by HBO's Louis Wu is now ready. It's called HALO: Offensive Tetraboxing and it's clocks in at a little over 9 minutes and 93 megabytes. It's encoded in MP4 and requires QuickTime to view; if you watch the QuickTime versions of Red vs Blue then you should be all set.
The word is that this is going to be the most sophisticated yet of Blackstar's fan films, with extensive use of rendered effects, including "original renders of the entire ringworld not seen in any Bungie version" according to the author.
Wolfy over at Sector 7 has put up a short article looking at various elements of the recently-released Halo 2 multiplayer screenshot. Go take a look.
More writeups and photos from Louis Wu's latest LANfest, Offensive Tetraboxing, are starting to pop up. Ryan 'Mhaddy' Matthews at The Junkyard writes that Dan Chosich from 2070 Wired Films has made a writeup with a short movie.
Blackstar of Blackstar Productions also has a photo gallery for Offensive Tetraboxing.
Dolbex at Been Mawed also has a page of text and photographs of Offensive Tetraboxing.
UPDATE: Louis Wu's own roundup of links at HBO includes the following other places:
XLNC has posted a series of very nice, high resolution, nearly HUDless screenshots from PC Halo over in the HBO forum. And in response to the many questions he received, he wrote up a short tutorial on how to make them. Thanks Louis Wu at HBO for the heads-up.
A group called the Western Onesteppers have released a fan film related to Bungie's (or should I say Take Two's?) RTS game, Myth. Project Magma and Myth@Bungie.Org are doing the hosting. It's available from their Media page. Viewing Avon's Hope requires QuickTime and is about 111 Mb in size.
