Forum Indexes

Clicking the listing of a Forum on the Forum page, or a direct link to a forum index from the forums box on the main page will bring you to a list of the posts in that forum.

By default, this display resembles WebBBS reverse threaded view, with posts displayed in a hierarchcal manner; posts are displayed in a list according to what post was a reply to what other post, and then chronologically from newest to oldest.

In this mode the window for controlling the forum display, called the Control Panel, appears at the bottom of the index.

Forums

The Forums area lists the message boards available at Rampancy.net, a description of what the message board is for, the number of posts in each forum and the date the most recent post was added.

Links

Rampancy automatically monitors all the sites in the Links area, and lists them according to how recently they have been updated.

For some sites this is more accurate than for others; sites that generate XML news feeds give the best results. These sites are also listed in the news feeds area, along with links to recent headlines.

For sites that display multiple boxes (most do except Rampancy Classic) a list of sites and how recently they updated will be displayed in the sites box.

Sites that don't update at all in over a month are not displayed.

Information

The Information area of the site (also referred on some sites that use this system as the collaborative book is a hierarchically arranged collection of persistent content.

Unlike news stories or polls, they don't expire.

This is where Rampancy.net's FAQ files reside, as well as a collection of articles that have been preserved for posterity.

The Halo Updates also live here.

User blogs

The word blog is short for Weblog.

A weblog is something like an online diary. Any registered user can create one, either by entering text or HTML into a form, or by clicking the small pushpin icon next to a listing in a box that contains a newsfeed item or a forum thread.

The user blogs area of the site allows you to view the weblogs of other users.

Unlike other kinds of content, blogs are posted to the site and visible by other users immediately.

Submit

There are four main types of content: story, book, poll and blog.

Story and Poll items appear on the main page and in the Headlines and Latest Poll boxes.

Books appear in the information link and include FAQs, the Halo Updates, and other articles about Myth-Marathon and Marathon-Halo connections, the Cortana Letters, etc.

Blogs appear in the User blogs box and under the blogs link.

Home

The Home page is the first page you will see at Rampancy.net. It defaults to showing the most recent news stories.

The other things displayed on this page are controlled by which theme you are using (more on themes later).

You can always return to this page by clicking a home link. In most of the Rampancy themes, this is on the far left of the horizontal menu bar at the top and bottom of each page.

In the Rampancy Classic theme, it is the first item in a vertical menu bar on the left hand side of the page, underneath the Account box.
