Yo, sup, it's me again. I don't know if anyone's ever tried this, but on the "343 Guilty Spark" level, as soon as you can take control DON'T GET OUT OF THE DROPSHIP. Instead, through all your grenades, and for some reason, you'll stay in the dropship, and the game won't make you get out. Then, the dropship will fly around for a while, and then finally it'll land on a hill above the level,(you normally wouldn't be able to get up here) Get out of the dropship, and keep walking in the same dirrection. You'll see 2D trees that look really messed up and cool, and also, you'll see a marine just standing there and if you shoot him, he'll yell at you. This too, is great.

yup tried that, ur supposed to be able to find a marine/covenant battle but the marines are just floating assault rifles that eventually drop to the ground because bungie didn't count on you getting to the fight so fast.

How it works
Single-elimination "Qualifying Tournaments" will be held on the weekends of November 2nd, December 14th, and January 11th at approximately one hundred iGames game centers across North America. The Qualifying Tournaments shall consist of a single game type played until only two teams remain.

The top two teams at each Qualifying Tournament will advance to one of eight Regional Tournaments where the big prizes and bragging rights are. Regional Tournaments (February 2nd) will still be single elimination, but each Round will be "Best 2 out of 3" across a broad range of game types.

Keep in mind, that's an unofficial date, extrapolated from statements that it should be out sometime in summer of 2003.

So don't crucify us if it's not out in exactly 210 days :)

Go take a look at the bungie.net site, in the area called the Seventh Column. Fan clubs have their own sites there. Some are located in the UK, and some had online tournaments earlier this year.

Whenever I've tried to use the sniper rifle on the flood warrior forms I've found that they don't seem to take any damage from it, but I've never really experimented with it. Can you kill one with one if you shoot it a *lot* of times or are they completely invincible against it? Also, how do the infection and carrer forms react to it?

The infection forms can be killed by the sniper rifle but why waste sniper bullets on them? The warrior forms cannot be killed by the sniper rifle (i think). I'm not sure about the carrier forms.

I wasn't actually intending to kill the infection forms that way, I just wondered. I'm pretty sure I've ever killed a carrier with a sniper rifle.

I wonder why Bungie made them invincible to it? Balance, perhaps? Because if you're good at aiming (very good, beacuse there's no auto-aim on it) then the sniper rifle is actually a suprisingly good alternative to the shotgun.

oh hello again. I can see how they are compared. the sniper rifle is the most powerful bullet in the whole game, even more than the shotgun. if your fighting flood, get a shotgun soon. if you're fighting covenant, from a distance, grab a rifle.
it just so happens I am a master of sniping at multiplayer
and always kill my friends and they get pissed of cuz i keep killing them with the rifle from far away.
so, think before you diss the sniper rifle. every wepaon has a good point, yes even the plasma pistol.

I never dissed any weapon, I just cant see how you can compare the sniper rifle to the shotgun? They are in a completely different class.

What’s wrong with the Plasma pistol? That’s one of my favourite weapons along side the Assault rifle or the pistol.

Flood combat forms aren't invincible to sniper rounds, but they are so resistent to them that it is a waste of ammo.

The primary reason, IIRC it being discussed some time ago, was to try and force more close-quarter combat. Slow, careful tactics like sniping are terribly effective against the Covenant; the idea with the Flood was to force the player into being more aggressive-- it explains their greater numbers, greater aggression (Flood never retreat) and the final way of doing it is making them impractical to snipe against.

I see, it helps make fighting them different to fighting the Covenant, forcing different tactis.

Seriously c0ld, if you don't have a shotgun on you at point blank the sniper rifle is very handy if you can aim well. You can do the one shot kill trick with hunters on it as well which is useful on the Truth and Reconcilliation.

I guess it could be quite effective if your an AMAZING SHOT, but the reload is slow and you can only shot 4 rounds at a time.

Uh...why would the elite come back?! But I do see what you mean, if you actually have a shotgun on you then there's no point but I have won many battles because I used the sniper rifle at close to medium range without the zoom. You can disable a flood in three sniper shots, well on easy. Take one to its head, and the next two to its arms. It won't hurt you much then, and sometimes they just plain drop down dead and don't get back up again.

Why is Two Betrayals called Two Betrayals?

I only count one betrayal between the MC and 343 about the function of Halo.

What am I missing?

c0ld

Well, one view could be that 343 betrayed the MC over the nature and function of the Halo, and in return the MC betrayed 343 over the Index.

That's one view.

Another is that the second betrayal will only be understood later... that perhaps by NOT setting off the Halo, the MC performed a larger betrayal...

This is just a theory, but it could be what the title means.

When the MC was trying to help 343GS put the index into place, Cortana stopped them. At that pint, the MC thought 343GS was trustworthy and would expect Cortana to turn on an ally, so that's betrayl number one. But then we learn she's right and what 343GS is really up to and that's betrayl number two. So the first one wasn't really a betrayl at all, it just seemed like it at the time.

In order of favourites (Least - Most)

10th, The Library

Do I really need to say why…oh ok then, repetitive with mindless enemies.
Sorry ferrex.

9th, Halo

I like the size of this level, but it does not have a lot within it if you know what I mean, its just driving around trying to save marines. Maybe its because I like the hiding around corners gaming style which this level lacks.

8th, 343 Guilty Spark

I like the beginning of this level when you’re in a jungle environment but then it goes downhill when you encounter the flood, but still the atmosphere is very good.

7th, The Maw

Great ending to this level, very different to the rest of the game and highly enjoyable. I like the mix of covenant and flood within a contained area that we are familiar with from the first level, and the engine room is a nice touch if a bit easy when you know what to do.

6th, Keys

I am a big fan of hide and seek type killing (as mentioned above) and this level has some great parts where you have to be on your toes, especially as the special ops covenant are running around all over the place.

5th, The Pillar of Autumn

The perfect starting level to this game. I love levels with marines and this one has loads to help you with their comic relief comments. This would have been more of a favourite but over playing due to Haliens has spoiled it slightly…but only slightly

4th, Truth and Reconciliation

In all my first person shooter games my best weapon is the sniper rifle, and this level is made for it! I constantly find myself returning to play this level to try and complete the entire first part without being spotted too much.
Inside the ship is quite nice too, some parts are better than others. The first docking bay is a good challenge.

3rd, The Silent Cartographer

An interactive intro is such a cool idea even if it is just being able to look around. It is my favourite of all the game.
But as soon as its over your dropped straight into battle and then given a warthog to burn around the island with your marines gunning down everything in your path. And when you enter the island a nice enclosed area to show what the master chief is all about.

2nd, Two Betrayals

Another nice big level that (surprising myself) wouldn’t be as good if the flood wasn’t around. The three way battles that occur in this level between the Covenant, the Flood and the Sentinels are quite amazing to fight in, and the variety of vehicles you can use makes it all that more fun. I would like to see more of this kind of level in Halo 2.

And in 1st place…… surprise surprise, Assault on the Control Room

This Level combines large outdoor areas, which I love with great indoor areas, which I love and lots of marines, which I love.
It has the added bonus of all the vehicles that you can use to there full potential, as there are marines about to assist you. I can play this level over and over and over…..which I do.

In reply to: My Halo Top 10

NUMBER 10:
343 guilty spark. I like this level and it has some really cool moments, but it can be tiresome, especially when your stuck inside
NUMBER 9:
truth and reconciliation. It can be anoying, especially the 'challenging landing bay' on legendary. No vehicles lessens the appeal although the sniper rifle moments are great.
NUMBER 8:
Halo. Great to see what halo's all about but driving gets dull, stil a beautiful level...
NUMBER 7:
the pillar of autumn. A fantastic introduction to the game full of great little details but gets boring after a while and lacks any real intrest
NUMBER 6:
The library. Cool as hell when you know where your going, great chance to kick the crap ourt of your enemy without worrying about tactics, adds true terror of the flood with them in such high quantities...wow...
NUMBER 5:
Keyes. Great level, lots of diversity, grteat swamp, cool ship, intriguing element of story, punch the captain, escape in a banshee. What more can I say...
NUMBER 4:
Two Betrayles: Flyingf the banshee a lot is great fun, the fllod are great, the tank is great to fight against, brilliant level.
NUMBER 3:
Assualt on the control room. The indoor beginning is annoying but once your outside, phoar, absoloutly excellent. Epic battles, all the vehicles. Yep, I love it.
NUMBER 2:
The silent cautographer. Awesome insurcion, like saving private Ryan in the 23rd centuary. Hunters are great fun to play against, the warthog jump takes place here, tones of marine friends, cool indore enviroments and total freedom over the island. I like.
NUMBER 1:
The Maw. Excellent. Great, three way battles, familiar surroundings, great intro, absoloutly brilliant ending and possibly the best thing in the game - the timed run. Cool engine room thingy, phantastic and bveautiful mix of everything.

In reply to: Re: My Halo Top 10

(Note, I like all of these missions, each one is challenging, very well done, and amazing. I order them not by how hard they are, but simply how cool they are, and interesting...)

NUMBER 10:
The Pillar of Autumn. Don't get me wrong, I like this mission, it serves as a great beginning... But it can't compair with the later missions.
NUMBER 9:
The Library. No, I'm not a wuss... I didn't put it here cuz it's hard. I like that it's hard. This level took me the longest to beat, and I have a great respect for it. Great scare factor, and it definitely improves your accuracy. It can get a little tiresome though.
NUMBER 8:
343 Guilty Spark. A very well-done level, especially the scare factor, VERY creepy. I liked this level a lot, but not enough to put it at the top.
NUMBER 7:
Halo. Up until I wrote this I thought this level was entirely under-rated, but then I realized why... It's simply because there's so many cool levels, and while this one is among them, it has to be pushed to the back... Anyhow, I love this level, it's very cool, and the best beginning for a game I've ever played (by beginning, of course, I mean 2nd level)
NUMBER 6:
Two Betrayles: I loved this level, going back through the "Assault on the Control Room" the other way around, and seeing how the flood had spread, was really cool... But I thought the Banshee flying was a bit disappointing... It wasn't as cool as I thought it would be. And it got tiring after awhile. Good level though.
NUMBER 5:
Keyes. This level was (to me) the hardest of all. The part right after you find keyes, and you're trapped between the ULTIMATE covenant forces, and the Flood... Of course, a good strateigist knows, you don't fight the covenant and the flood, you make the covenant and the flood fight eachother. Good level.
NUMBER 4:
The Maw. This level was VERY well done, and the best ending I could think of, the same place you started out. Challenging, Amazing, and Fun all wrapped up in one. And I just KNEW there was going to be something that you'd be timed on in the game, finally something to quench my thirst for speed. I loved the final run to get out in time. Although the monitor guy got pretty annoying.
NUMBER 3:
The Truth & Reconciliation. Ah, I love sniping. The beginning of this level was SO cool... And it was very challenging, being the first time you meet up with Hunters. And keeping your men alive was a real challenge. I really liked the room with all the sleeping Grunts and the yellow Elite =).
NUMBER 2:
The Silent Cartographer. As you can see, I loved this level. The beginning was excellent, dropping you right in the middle of the battlefield... And driving around on the warthog is one of my favorite things to do... And I especially loved the part where you go on foot. And using your pistol to snipe out the covenant troops in the area past the 2 hunters, was just so much fun. GREAT level.
NUMBER 1:
*drum roll*
Assault on the Control Room. Yes, my favorite level. The snow environment was great, the huge bridges in the air were very cool, and the inside areas, where you sneak around, and run up behind the patrols and whack em, *faints* great level. And very long too. Ah, the good old days back before the flood...

That's my top 10, thanx for reading.

10-library-because its to flusterating .And its pretty much the
same thing over and over again.
9-343 gilty spark-it was confusing and also flusterating. And i hate them dame heads they are the most anoing thing ever in gaming histery.
8-halo-its good some times. But 99 percent of the time its to boring
ang confusing.
7-maw-this level is petty cool but ther needs to be more covenant in it.
6-piller of autumn-this is a pretty tight level but it needs to be
longer.
5-silent cartograher-i tank thi level is bad in agoogd way.Ive played these level about a hundred times before.
4-two betrayles-i love to play this level on doubel player. Its much funner that way because you can split up.

#10-The Library
Cool for a little while (especially on legendary), but you do the same thing over and over and over. Presents a good challenge being the second hardest level but its only satisfying to comlete because your glad its over with.
*BIGGEST FAULT* no covanent only flood

#9-Pillar of Autumn
Amazing when played for the first time. Loads of marines to help out, and the cool room with the stairs in the center are nice touches, but it just doesn't compare with the other levels.
*BIGGEST FAULT* only elites and grunts to fight

#8-343 Guilty Spark
Incredibly scary to go through the first time, but very few actual fights. Good challenge to try and keep your marines alive at the end.
*BIGGEST FAULT* no elites

#7-The Silent Cartographer
Cool into and beginning. The rest is just to easy with no real special areas to spike your intrests. Maybe if the marines followed you in the underground structure, or if the captain was with you... I only play this level to do jeep tricks.
*BIGGEST FAULT* no enemy vehicles (other than dropships) or turret to
contend with your jeep

#6-Halo
All the fights in outdoor areas with marines at you side are cool. Get a marine with a sniper rifle in your jeep's side seat and the fun you can have in this level skyrockets!
*BIGGEST FAULT* again no enemy vehicles (other than dropships) or
turret to contend with your jeep (There might be a
banshee later in the level)

#5-Keys
The special opps covenant are the coolest badguys in the game. If only the flood were so fun to fight.
*BIGGEST FAULT* no vehicles. I was so excited when I saw the banshee
at the end, but you dont get to fly it

#4-The Maw
Same as keys. Cool special opps covenant and... the flood. Only now you get the coolest single part of the game-WARTHOG SPRINT! I play this part over and over getting nearly to the end and then killing myself so that I can do it all over again! Iwish you could steal a gost and do this.
*BIGGEST FAULT* no outdoor area fighting

#3-Two Betrayals
Face it all wepons, all enemies, and every vehicle except the tank. Best indoor and outdoor fighting areas in the game! How much better could you get? TAKE OUT THE FLOOD! I know the three way battles are cool but when the flood win (which is rare on legendary so thats what I always play this level on) the are just some more mindless monsters to pop in the head with the shotgun, which can be fun but after the millionth one it gets old. The AI in this game is so cool! Why did they have to screw it all up by entering the flood.
*BIGGEST FAULT* the flood mainly, but I was also disapointed when I
came apon the spot where I had left the tank and
found it missing

#2-The Truth and Reconciliation
Enter my favorite gun, the sniper rifle, enter a seemingly endless supply of heads to pop, you get what could be the best level in the game. NO FLOOD! Thank god. Also you get the hardest level in the game, whether it be the first loading bay or keeping keys alive. That brings me to another point. This is the only level where you have to escort someone or something. I hope we see more of this in Halo 2, only this time with vehicles. Imagine carting a load of civilians in the transport jeep through an area equily as dangerous an exciting as the WARTHOG SPRINT! Or having to protect incoming dropships with a vehicle similar to the banshee.
*BIGGEST FAULT* NO STINKIN VEHICLES (turrets don't count)

#1 Assult on the Control Room
Even the name of this level widely excepted as the best in the game sounds cool. With every vehicle in the game, almost every wepon, and no flood you don't get better than this. A wide range of gamplay options, whether it be sniping them with the infinte ammo cheat point, sneeking up on elites and sleeping grunts and giving them a friendly pat on the back, or simply blowing up every enemy in site with the tank this level has it all (except the flood! Yes!). To create an unbeatable force have on guy steel a banshee and the other get two sniper rifle marines on the tank, sweet!
*BIGGEST FAULT* no shotgun, oh well I guess I'll have to live with a
rocket launcher with infinite ammo.
