Harry Al-Shakarchi, aka TomeOne, pointed out to Louis Wu at Halo.bungie.org that xbox.ign.com is now reporting on the awards given out at the Tokyo Game Show.
Dead Or Alive 3 won top honors, with Jet Set Radio Future being the runner-up.
And what about Halo? The news is not so good:
Unfortunately, in terms of what's being shown at TGS for the Xbox, the Halo demo is pretty conservative, especially considering some of the more epic outdoor environments they could have chosen for a show demo. Still suffering from some frame stutters, the game offers some incredible moments at the show, but not the guaranteed gaming promise of Dead or Alive. Runner up goes to Jet Set Radio Future, which is visually stunning, and filled with cool details, but suffers from some pesky framerate problems at the moment, and more importantly, some of the same control issues that in my opinion kept the game from being a truly stellar Dreamcast title.
Perhaps the builds for both these games are a little bit old; one can always hope. However, for a console that is being touted as so powerful that no PC or console can match its potential to have two of its premier launch titles struggling to achieve consistent frame rates just shy of a month before launch is not encouraging.
