[image:4314 left hspace=5 vspace=5 border=0]How can one small game contain a level so large? We don't know, we flunked math. You can take a look and figure it out for yourself in the five screenshots of the new PC Halo level, Infinity, released by Microsoft and now in our PC Halo Gallery. Thanks Louis Wu at HBO. Seriously, we're going to make it so that gets appended automatically at the end of each post from now on. It'll still be right more often than not.
[image:4313 left hspace=5 vspace=5 border=0]The latest screenshot on the Gearbox PC Halo page features the flamethrower in use on Boarding Action. Anyone hungry? I think I smell something cooking. Let's eat in the Gallery. Thanks Louis Wu at HBO.
[image:4107 left hspace=5 vspace=5 border=0]As they've done with Halo for the Xbox, iGames will start holding seasonal championships for PC Halo. There will be a showcase event between October 13 and 19 at participating iGames affiliates. Thanks Emil from CobaltNova.
[image:4040 left hspace=5 vspace=5 border=0]Randy "DuvalMagic" Pitchford, CEO of Gearbox Software, has posted in the Gearbox PC Halo Forum about the status of PC Halo. He says that an official release date will be announced in 1 to 4 days; that the programmers have moved on from the retail game, which is finished, do work on a demo and some bonus features for a post-release update.
[image:4308 left hspace=5 vspace=5 border=0]Steve at Forerunners.org tipped us off to what Microsoft's Game PR department just sent him: the box art for the upcoming release of PC Halo.
[image:4283 left hspace=5 vspace=5 border=0]HBO's rounded up a couple new PC Halo previews/reviews: GameGossip is the class of the previews, Gamers Hell packed a walloping 33 new screenshots. You know where they went.
[image:4247 left hspace=5 vspace=5 border=0]French game site GameKult.com put up a bunch of Halo screenshots, and HBO's Louis Wunoticed. They're in the PC Halo Gallery now.
[image:4044 left hspace=5 vspace=5 border=0]Bungie's own SketchFactor is looking for your questions to prepare one final, massive, be-all, end-all PC Halo Update. There's a forum thread over in the HBO forum where you can submit your question.
[image:4040 left hspace=5 vspace=5 border=0]The Adrenaline Vault has interviewed Gearbox's Randy Pitchford (do they let this guy do anything but interview anymore?) on PC Halo. He highlighted the work done on multiplayer, as well as on options for customization:
Game customization is really cool in Halo. We've exposed tons of options and features that let you dramatically modify the way the game works. You'll be able to do this through the use of simple menus without worrying about programming or the modification tools we'll be releasing later.
The article was also accompanied by some screenshots that we've put in our PC Halo Gallery. Thanks Louis Wu at HBO.
[image:4203 left hspace=5 vspace=5 border=0]Mi|amber over at RadiativeNZ has a preview of PC Halo-- or perhaps, more appropriately, a review of the Halo PC Beta 1.5 he has (we won't ask where he got it, we're sure it's legitimate). Most of the information isn't new, but he did have this to say on the controls issue:
The thing I found most difficult (and I thought I would never say this!) was getting used to the mouse/KB combination after playing Halo on my Xbox so much. I took me well over 2 hours to get the hang of playing Halo with a mouse.
The article also had quite a few nice screenshots; we've added them to the PC Halo Gallery. Thanks to Louis Wu at HBO for the heads-up.
[image:4187 left hspace=5 vspace=5 border=0]Gearbox Software has put up another new exclusive screenshot of PC Halo, this time a shot from the multiplayer map Boarding Action. We've added it to our PC Halo Gallery.
[image:4040 left hspace=5 vspace=5 border=0]Along with the screenshots of Sapien, Gearbox also put up a Halo Editing FAQ. The most important bit (so far) is here:
The current plan is to have the Halo PC Editing Kit or at least the initial phase of the kit released very soon after Halo PC appears on store shelves.
Be sure to check it out if you're planning on trying your hand at making Halo maps, or if you're just curious. Or bored. Or whatever.
[image:4040 left hspace=5 vspace=5 border=0]Let the rampant speculation begin. The item countdown on the Gearbox projects page, which temporarily reversed itself earlier, is now gone entirely.
Does that mean there are no more items? Does it mean Golden Master? Does it mean nothing at all?
Time will tell.
[image:4174 left hspace=5 vspace=5 border=0]Gearbox has posted a screenshot of the Halo Editor, called Sapien. Dolbex, who has been testing PC Halo, described the program as easy to use over at his site, Been Mawed.
We've created a subgallery for screenshots of Sapien and added this shot.
UPDATE: We've received several more images of Sapien from Steve of Forerunners.org, as well as some images of Guerilla.
