Rapture at CookedGamers reports he's seen playable Xbox 360 kiosks at a Wal-Mart in Huntsville, Alabama. Pictures to come later.
UPDATE: Joystiq beat Rapture to the punch, posting Xbox 360 kiosk pics from a reader in New Mexico.
Seth Jayson at the financial analysis site the Motley Fool thinks that the rumors of Xbox 360 shortages exist to spur demand for the console, and the in fact Microsoft will have plenty of the console available for the holidays.
(Here's hoping they're right, as I still haven't preordered--Ed.)
GamePro's Stubbs the Zombie review gives the game a score of 3.5 out of 5 points, with high marks for the game's concept. Most of their complaints seem to center around the "dated" Halo engine.
The new "My Boyfriend's Back" trailer for Stubbs the Zombie is a riot-- a zombie riot, but a riot nonetheless. And as the game shipped today for the Xbox-- go buy a copy!
Bungie has killed the Halo 2 leaderboards to discourage cheaters, as well as added the Team Hardcore playlist. Thanks SketchFactor.
What's interesting in Sketch's post is the admission that the top-ranked Halo 2 players online are cheaters:
There's nothing like impending fatherhood to make you hungry... for brains. At least, that's what we think the moral of the story is over at Penny Arcade, where Stubbs the Zombie, out for the Xbox this week, is one of four games Tycho is hankering for:
1Up has put up their a review of Wideload's Stubbs the Zombie. The game pulls a rating of 9.0 out of 10.0 for its humor, style, and solid gameplay.
There are also hints that there may be almost as many things for tricksters to hunt for in Stubbs as in Halo 2. Except instead of skulls, Stubbs has-- well-- hippos.
This week's Weekly What's Update by Frankie has decorating tips mixed in with serious news. To summarize:
DailyGame is reconfirming that Stubbs the Zombie, developed by Wideload Games and published by Aspyr, will be released on October 17.
Bungie's Humpday Challenge is back after a long hiatus. The boys from Kirkland took on some random misfortunates in the new Team Snipers playlist and took two games out of three. The story is accompanied by the best animated GIF ever.
According to scans from Game Informer provided by Xbox365, the "mystery character" from the Haloverse set to appear in Team Ninja's DOA4 game for the Xbox 360 isn't the Master Chief-- but it is a Spartan; female Spartan-458, despite heavy (perhaps too heavy) hints that a curvaceous Cortana would get the nod.
The buzz on Microsoft's next console is continuing to rise. Here are just a few of the stories in the last day or so:
A preview copy of Stubbs the Zombie landed in GameDaily's post office box today, and they like what they see, at first glance:
Seth Schiesel at the old grey lady wrote his impressions of the Xbox 360 after sitting down with one at Microsoft's X05 show in Amsterdam last week. While Bungie wasn't showing anything, it is impossible for the new console to escape the shadow of its star franchise, even when nothing's actually been said about it. In comparison, it seems that the shooter slated for the marquee spot in the 360's launch lineup is faring very well:
Microsoft continues to play cagey with information about the Halo franchise in the aftermath of Gates' E3 comments and the absence of an official announcement by Bungie.
Interviewing Peter Moore and J Allard, Game Informer had the following exchange:
GI: Would you hold Halo 3 for the same time as the launch for the movie?
Moore: Halo what? What are you talking about?
