And now, for your ravenous consumer delight, Oni advertising from Computer Games Magazine! Courtesy of derf, who scanned and uploaded the images on RHL, these two ads were taken from the February issue, and are of mostly academic interest to Onifen:
The ads do look a little awkward with those oddly chosen screenshots, but I'm sure the tattered clothing of the first ad will draw a few eyes.
Kudos to Gawyn and 3of9 for pointing out a little change at the Bungie Store. Now password protected, behind the StoreDev realm, the store appears to be under re-development. What lies behind the password screen? And more importantly, can anyone guess the password? Where are the 1337 h4x0r d00dz when you need them...
Thanks to Ares for tipping us off on FutureMyth: the Gathering of Developers Myth III site is now active, and reroutes you to a page on GOD's main server. So far, there's nothing there but the word myth3 , but keep your eyes peeled
If you haven't had a chance to, it might be worth visiting Halo HQ to see their new Research Center. They've begun to revive some of the old discussion about symbols found in different screen shots. I was off in the middle of some holiday revelry in another state for awhile, or else I might have posted this one a mite earlier. (Yeah, excuses excuses... ;-)
It seems that the guys at Microsoft's PR department have gotten a bit ahead of themselves and already posted up the press release to follow Bill Gate's keynote, speaking of what he has yet to show in the past-tense. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Halo will be demoed today.
If you're not going anywhere, and have a somewhat current version of Windows Media Player (WiMP) (There is a downloadable Mac version at this URL) you should immediately head to Microsoft's X-Box site. In a little over an hour from now (at 0930 Pacific time) Bill Gates will begin his keynote address at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
Awhile ago I posted a bit of news about a very interesting game coming from Verant named PlanetSide. Pretty much, it appears to be very much like Halo - inspired by Halo, some in the gaming world are saying - yet it is a massive multiplayer game set in a persistent world.
Well... Bill had Seamus Blackley come out and demo a couple of games, as described in the below PR. And then Bill and The Rock did a poorly rehearsed skit for a little while. The most comedic value for those hanging out at RHL came from Bill Gates' voice cracking once or twice, and the resulting good-natured puberty jokes. Still, the level of detail in the X-Box gaming demonstration wasn't bad for streaming A/V.
Stomped and Blue's News both received gold masters of Oni today. (Stomped's copy is for the PC; presumably Blue's is as well). Stomped put up a short review with initial impressions here.
