Louis Wu over at HBO has a post up confirming that (for members, anyway) the latest episode of Red vs. Blue, the popular Halo movie series, is online.
Another brilliant idea from the think - Another brilliant idea from the think tank. [halo.bungie.org]
TankRamp at Battleground:Halo is reporting that XboxConnect, a Windows tunnelling program, will be holding a 100+ participant Halo tournament. More information is available on their site, including sign-ups.
GameMarketWatch.com announced on July 16 that sales of the Xbox version of Halo had reached three million units worldwide. Meanwhile, EuroGamer reported on the 21st that Microsoft's financial results for the last quarter revealed that worldwide sales of the Xbox had reached 9.4 million, somewhat lower than the 10 million some estimated.
That makes Halo far and away the most popular Xbox title.
CobaltNova has announced that this year will see the first organized system of awards for Halo fan films, to be called the Rockets on Prisoner awards. From among the 300 Halo fan films out there, there will be five nominees in each of six categories. More information is available from the Rockets on Prisoner page of CobaltNova.com.
Jake 'Evergreen98' Billo has posted a three part article at The Junkyard, comparing elements of the forthcoming PC release of Halo by Gearbox to the original game on the Xbox.
Just like our compatriots over at HBO, Rampancy is sending representatives to the Are You Big Enough LANfest in Andover, Massachusetts, which despite our colleague's impressions, is a location that has nothing to do with anal sex. We should be able to provide an update on the proceedings with some photos sometime during the day.
Over on Sector7-Halo.com, their holding a quiz to test out your Halo knowledge. It's a pretty tough quiz, I only got 25 out of 45 right. Good luck!
In an interview over at Telefragged, Randy Pitchford from Gearbox gives us some hope that even if Halo for the PC doesn't have cooperative play at launch, it might gain it later on:
Randy Pitchford: Co-op for the Xbox wasnТt networked -- it was two view ports into one game. We can easily support cooperative play via split screen, but thatТs kind of a cop out. We want to do it right. ItТs important to us and weТre working on it, but we havenТt been able to promise that itТs going to be there at launch.
Thanks to Louis Wu at HBO for the heads-up.
Part Two of Bungie.net's feature on the making of the E3 demo is up. This one, by SketchFactor, is called Lights, Camera, Action! and features an interview with Joseph Staten, BungieТs Director of Cinematics.
HBO's Louis Wu gave us the heads-up.
Videogames had better be art. For Marty's sake.
Although I hate to keep pointing out the work of one individual at Bungie among many that are obviously so talented, simple candor requires me to. The music in the recent E3 Halo 2 demo, like the soundtracks on the earlier Halo 2 announcement video, going back all the way to the original Halo demo at MWNY in 1999- simply blew me away. The adjective cinematic begins to seem like damning with faint praise.
We won't summarize the whole Halo 2 Preview at UGO, pointed out over at HBO by Louis Wu, but we'll just mention a few of the more... ahh, interesting bits of... ahh... information. Some of these aren't new, some of them are, and some of them... well...
Some of these-- like weak Prophets and mercenary Brutes-- seem a bit odd, especially since in the E3 demo, Brutes emerge from Covenant vehicles, and earlier articles attributed unique attacks to Prophets. However, time will tell.
If the article at UGO is to be believed, there are a few more pieces of information available about PC Halo.
What's in:
What's out:
Some of these, such as the lack of cooperative play, had merely been speculated about before, but if the article is accurate, cooperative play in PC Halo is now definitely out.
Thanks to Louis Wu at HBO who pointed out the article.
