New Strip, Video, Backgrounds At Halo Babies
In addition to the new Halo Babies strip, Gruntsbane has done five new strip backgrounds for use in making fan Halo Babies strips. There's also a video documenting mrsmiley's trip to MLG.

OpeningAct had a better experience playing Halo 2 at Game Stars Live in London than other community members, having gotten to the front of the line in reasonable time and having a rampantly rampaging good time beging first to fifteen in a round of Slayer on Zanzibar, and posting about it in the HBO forum.
And yes, in case you're wondering, this item got mentioned because of its use of the word rampant.
Believe it or not, there's Myth news today. Over at MythForums there are two news items; one about an update to the Myth 2 FAQ, adding information about the community game servers that replaced Bungie.net; the other is the launch of Myth Gazetteer, a site that aims to be a meta-directory for Myth maps; they've got 500 so far. Thanks vinylrake.
BlackOps has posted in the Gearbox HaloCE forum about a modification that he and some associates have made to an Unreal Tournament 2003 statistics program. Now this statistics package works with Halo server logs if you have FTP access to the logs themselves. They aim to produce an open source Halo statistics package; currently it tracks kills, deaths, suicides, team kills, who killed whom, flag scores, double kills, triple kills, killtaculars, and more. It also implements a UT-style ranking system, where players with low ranks get more "points" for killing players with higher ranks. You can see a demo of the system as well.
Thanks Louis Wu at HBO for the heads-up. This may be a precursor to what we'll see in the XBL portion of Halo 2.
Achronos has posted up at Bungie.net that the Seventh Column will be shut down next week, on September 7, for major upgrades including a new look, new forums, and a new user database. Some important notes:
Be sure to read the full article if you run a Seventh Column chapter or plan to.
GameDaily has interviewed Bungie's Pete Parsons about (what else) Halo 2. Two concepts kept coming up; how Bungie has deepened and extended the single player story (and kept most of the story out of the press, so far) and how the multiplayer aspect is now fully realized and a separate experience both from multiplayer in Halo 1 and from the single player in Halo 2:
We've made the multiplayer easy to get into with a ranking system, which doesn't allow veterans to pick off new players in unfair matches. You can play against people all over the world that are on the same skill level, which makes this game fun no matter what level of player you are.
Does Halo 2 on XBL mark the return of the comet?
Mark Ryan Sallee at IGN played the Zanzibar level of Halo 2 at Game Stars Live, and wrote up a short article of his impressions, including some of the changes made to the weapons. Apparently, the plasma weapons, including his own favorite, the plasma rifle, don't slow down enemies the way they did in Halo 1. And that makes Mark sad.
The Red vs Blue website has been updated with news of the availability of Trocadero's first album on CD (is that an oxymoron?) It's called, appropriately enough, Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue.
The CD contains all the music from the Red vs Blue series, and you can buy it now in their online store.
In the first videogame preview seemingly done by an entire country, Canada.com has put up a look at Halo 2. And yes, we know that's really Canada's National Post, and even if we hadn't, Louis Wu would have been there to tell us.
There's mention of the Wideload - Aspyr deal today at Evil Avatar (story, press release) and at SPOnG.
There's some interesting language in the release that might give a small hint to the nature of the game, or at least its advertising campaign:
Aspyr will work closely with Wideload to make sure that the vision and feel of the game is reflected in all aspects of bringing this title to market. Furthermore, Aspyr is leveraging its music and film ties to create a campaign that is just as twisted and off the wall as the game itself. Stay tuned (and we mean tuned) for some interesting developments.
Perhaps Wideload is making Jet Set Radio Tuner?
UPDATE: MacWorld has picked up the news as well. Off-topic: isn't that G5 iMac cool?
